AMD launches 'Big Navi' Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs

AMD today unveiled the Radeon RX 6000 series, the latest major update to its Radeon graphics card line. In line with the new design of RDNA2, the Radeon RX 6000 series offers greater performance over the previous generation of Radeon cards. That’s in large part thanks to RDNA, which is now very efficient and packed with a list of new features to push high frames and graphics quality.

The development of RDNA2 brings about a 54 percent increase in performance per watt than RDNA. AMD also claims that RDNA2 can deliver twice as much performance as RDNA in 4K resolutions.

Turning to hardware, AMD led the way with the new Radeon RX 6800 XT, which is compatible with NVIDIA's latest GeForce RTX 3080 performance - beating it in some cases - while using less power. The card is packed with 72 computer units and 16GB of memory. That is supported by the 2015MHz basic clock and 2250MHz reinforcement clock.

To close the event, AMD unveiled the top Radeon RX 6900 XT. In line with NVIDIA's giant beast GeForce RTX 3900, the RX 6900 XT delivers 65 percent performance per watt compared to RDNA. It also beats or resembles the RTX 3090 in frames on most games in a 300 watt power draw.

According to specs, the Radeon RX 6900 XT boasts 80 computer units, 16GB of memory and 128MB of "infinity cache." That is built on the 2015MHz base clock and the 2250MHz alarm clock.

All three of these cards make good use of the RDNA2 features designed to maximize game performance. That includes everything from one-click overboard built-in AMD Radeon software, allowing full access to GPU memory when paired with a Ryzen CPU. AMD also worked with Microsoft to take advantage of DirectX XII Ultimate, bringing features of AMD FidelityFX such as contrast contrast, flexibility, and more.

The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is expected to launch on November 18 from $ 650. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 is expected to launch on November 18, too, starting at $ 580. The Radeon RX 6900 Xt is expected to launch on December 8 with $ 1,000.
